June 30 2010: NYSDOH Arboviral Tickborne Testing Reporting  The New York State Department of Health is advising physicians on the procedures to test and report suspected cases of mosquito-borne arboviral illnesses, including West Nile Virus (WNV) and eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), and tick-borne illness including Lyme disease, babesiosis, human monocytic ehrlichiosis (HME), human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA), and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF).
 
June 2010: HIV Screening. Standard Care. developed by the CDC (as part of the Act Against AIDS Campaign), gives primary care providers new tools to help ensure all patients are tested for HIV at least once in their life. Free tools and materials will be available to providers, including a quick annotated guide to the recommendations and patient education materials that will help answer patients’ questions about HIV testing
 
June 2010: The Westchester County Health Department, along with six other counties, has received funding from New York State’s Healthcare Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers (HEAL NY 9) to foster healthy communities and explore ways to improve the health care delivery system. As part of this effort, the Health Department will be hosting focus group sessions with health care partners and community stakeholders to discuss strategies that can increase access to health care, timely prenatal care and chronic disease prevention.

Guidance for Healthcare Providers

Testing, Treatment and Prophylaxis Decision Algorithm for Patients with Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) in New York State.

Obtaining Antiviral medications for Uninsured/underinsured patients - Tamiflu:  NYS Dept. of Health has a limited supply of Tamiflu that can be distributed to providers for treatment of uninsured  and/or underinsured patients if patients have no other means to access this medication.  Requests for obtaining Tamiflu must be submitted through the local health department.   

To submit a request, Westchester County healthcare facilities are required to complete this form and fax it to Westchester County Department of Health, (914) 813-5230 (Attn: Dr. Archbald).  Requests will be processed by Westchester County Department of Health during regular working hours (Mondays-Fridays 8:30am-5pm).  Access to this supply of Tamiflu is based on NYS Dept. of Health supply and approval.
